The curriculum is available on the CEF Press website. You may choose any curriculum from the site and are not required to use the one designated for this year.
Can I have teen volunteers?
Yes, teen volunteers are welcome to serve! Students in 6th grade and above are eligible. When the background check is submitted, we will contact the listed references, and a response from them is required before the teen can be approved to serve.
How do I watch the training videos?
The training is available on the Children’s Ministry Institute website, with links provided below. To access the training videos, you will need to create an account. After signing in, the site will prompt you for an access code, please email us, and we will provide it for you.
How often do I complete my background check?
Background checks are required every five years. However, if a teen is serving, a background check must be completed once they turn 18, even if they are still within the five year period.
How often to I complete the Annual Ministry Compliance Form?
This form is completed at the beginning of each school year.
Which counties/cities do you cover?
We cover 16 cities & counties: Albemarle County, Amherst County, Appomattox County, Bedford County, Buckingham County, Campbell County, Charlotte County, Charlottesville City, Cumberland County, Danville City, Greene County, Halifax County, Lynchburg City, Nelson County, Pittsylvania County, Prince Edward County
How many schools are in your area?
There are 95 elementary schools in our chapter.
How many students attend public schools in your chapter?
There are approximately 36,000 students attending elementary schools in our chapter.
Are you part of a denomination?
CEF is interdenominational, with all our partner churches adhering to our Statement of Faith. This can be found online here: https://www.cefonline.com/about/statementoffaith/
Does CEF exist in other places?
Yes, CEF is the world’s largest children’s ministry organization with active ministry in almost every state and country. In Virginia, CEF has 6 active chapters across the state and is working to establish its last 2 chapters in the Shenandoah area and in the southwestern area.
Is it legal to hold a Bible club in a school?
Yes! In 2001, the Supreme Court gave Good News Clubs equal access to schools where other after school programs exist.
How is your ministry funded?
Through individual, business, and church donors that give generously to help our ministry continue.
What does our donation do?
Your monthly support helps launch new Good News Clubs, train volunteers, expand our staff, and bring the gospel to even more children. Every dollar opens another door for a child to hear about Jesus.
Can I designate my donation for a specific person?
Yes! To support a specific staff member, you can write their name or position in the memo line of your check or online donation.
